SESSION THREE: Hierarchical Motion
In the third and last dance session, students explored concepts of hierarchical motion. In pairs they performed lead-and-follow exercises to become comfortable with activity between linked bodies. They worked in groups to create perpetual motion machines in which they performed movements transforming the energy of each other's motions, and as a class participated in experiments to explore the decrease of energy across a system. This class was performed at the same time students were learning to animate hierarchies in MAX, primarily Forward Kinematics for the "Useful Device" animation homework, in which they designed, modeled, and animated a robotic or mechanical construct designed to handle a chore in the housefold, often a silly one. |
